BaltGene Wiki

BaltGene Wiki communicates new scientific results on genetic biodiversity in the Baltic Sea directly to stakeholders, and we aim to develop this page further along with the generation of new scientific results in future research programs.

BaltGene Wiki contains genetic landscape maps that suggest management units of key species, descriptions of genetic biodiversity of these species, examples of the importance of genetic biodiversity in relation to ecosystem function, the importance of local adaptation of populations, and principals and suggestions of genetic monitoring plans. The BaltGene Wiki also comments on the effects of connectivity among marine protected areas (MPAs).

The BaltGene Wiki was first developed in the BONUS+ project BaltGene and synthesizes and presents results on Baltic Sea genetic biodiversity and from other published scientific reports. The BaltGene Wiki will be further developed through the BONUS project BAMBI and BIO-C3

The BaltGene Wiki is aimed for authorities, policy makers and fishing industry in the Baltic Sea region.

From 2013 BaltGene Wiki is hosted by the Centre for Marine Evolutionary Biology at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
