BONUS BAMBI End User Conference

Welcome to BaltGene 2017 – the meeting point for science and management to discuss how and why genetic biodiversity should be incorporated in Baltic Sea management.

Due to its brackish environment the Baltic Sea is very species-poor. Adding to the pressure from pollution and over exploitation is the threat of rising temperatures and decreasing salinity from climate change.

To secure functions and services from future ecosystems, we should conserve genetic components of biodiversity. For example, genotypes now present in the northern parts of the Bothnian Bay may be very useful to save populations in the south, as the salinity gradient shifts south.

BONUS BAMBI (Baltic Sea Marine Biodiversity) invites to a meeting on how the growing knowledge of genetics can help ensure the future of Baltic Sea species and ecosystems.

When? September 21-22 2017.
Where? Hotel C Stockholm, Sweden.
For whom? Managers, policy-makers and scientists.

No conference fee
Conference including coffee and meals are free.

Possibilities for economic support
We are able to offer a limited number of grants to cover costs for travel and accomodation (one night) to authority representatives and managers. The idea with this support is to assure active participation of managers from all Baltic Sea countries. Please contact Mari Edman if you are interested in this opportunity. We look forward to your participation!

Registration is closed.
